We awarded the best student business plan

We are continuing to support the excellence in education so we offered the Grand Prize worth of 2000 RON to the best business plan presented during the 3rd edition of the Entrepreneur Factory. This project is extremely complex and it is organized by the Career Development Center, Cluj filial. Throughout this project, the students who had a business idea and wanted to implement it had the chance to show it to representatives of the business sector from Cluj.

Andreea Soos, Bianca Birta, Călin Moldovan, Andra Nicoruţ, Bogdan Gherman, Daniel Danciu, Marius Bodea, Mihaela Savin, Mihai Brumaru, Mihai Hanga, Paul Pastina, Romeo Cozac and Sergiu Andreca were the 13 students who entered the competition with ideas and business plans. These plans were analyzed by a jury of entrepreneurs who decided that the Grand Prize should go to Andra Nicoruţ, for the project “Contemporary jewelry workshop”.

Our association was represented in the jury by Mihaela Rus, President of AFA Cluj and by Alexandra Stoica, Executive Director at DAS Engineering Group. Also, during the trainings Mihaela Rus talked to the students about business and the appropriate attitude and explained them various aspects of professional communication in business. Simona Baciu, another colleague of ours, offered the youngsters a presentation at the Transylvania College, a school founded by her.

“I made an effort to interrupt my activity in a busy and important period of the year, but I’m not sorry at all. I have enjoyed very much what I’ve seen and I’ve noted the enthusiasm and dedication of the students when they presented the business plans. All the projects had something special, and it was really hard for us, the jury, to select the best. I have promised support and mentorship to implement these ideas, and I am happy to remain in contact with every student I have met”, declared Mihaela Rus.

We are happy that our association was in the presence of young bright minds and enthusiastic souls. We congratulate them all for their dedication and seriousness and we wish that they will succeed to transform their ideas in important businesses.

We subscribed at the Raiffeisen Communities competition for financing

Together with the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD), our association has the project ”Ranking of the high-schools in Cluj county AFA-CSD” in the finale of the Raiffeisen Communities competition for financing.

The purpose of the project is to achieve and publish a ranking of the high-schools starting from performance criteria, relevant for those who are specialized, but also for students, teachers and employers. The development and application of the criteria in an honest and transparent way will allow the students and the parents to choose wisely the academic institution. Also, the city halls will be able to allocate resources in a more efficient manner, and last but not least the schools will be stimulated to offer an education of a higher quality.

For this project to win and therefore to be implemented, we have to get as many votes as we can. So, we ask for your support by voting the project “Ranking of the high-schools in Cluj county AFA-CSD” at this link:

AFA Brought the Children from RFA in the City of Adventure

The under-privileged children in the Family Rediscovered Association had a great time last week in the City of Adventures. Hence, continuing our project “Hours of Reward” at the initiative or our colleague Cornelia Nagy, vice-president AFA, we thought of offering them an unforgettable afternoon of entertainment.

Together with several colleagues from AFA, the children fired lasers at Laser Tag, an area opposite to the Cluj Airport, especially intended for this activity.

On this occasion, most of the children from RFA had the opportunity to for the first time how planes take off and land.

AFA Supports a Fellow Student’s Education at the International School Cluj

In line with our mission to build bridges between generations, and to invest in high level education, we donated this month 350 Euro-worth (1.500 Lei) of school books to a young scholar at the International School Cluj.

Vlad Mureşan (Photo) is a 9th grade student at the International School, a student of excellence, particularly sensitive, who expresses his sensitivity through painting and poetry. He is always active, willing to assume new responsibilities, taking part in all the projects suggested by the International School that require getting involved in the community. Vlad is a good team player, a born leader, being the School Ambassador and the captain of the “Golden Eagles” class. He graduated the academic year of 2010-2011 with a 9.50 grade. Vlad was adopted from the orphanage at the age of 11, and has been living in foster care since that age.

The young fellow student is one of the beneficiary students of the “Frate de carte” scholarship program, a project designed for children who come from an under-privileged urban or rural environment, or for orphan children who are very talented and have a strong motivation to study.
